Season 49 - 2012

  This would be the beginning of the Shearman era, in early 2012 it was announced that Shearman and Toby Jones were leaving Doctor Who at the end of the 50th Anniversary special in 2013, Annabel Scholey would also leave at the end of the 50th however it was announced that Martin Compston would leave in Season 49. Behind the scenes both Piers Wenger and Beth Wilis left as Executive Producers and were replaced by Faith Penhale and Caroline Skinner, Sanne Wohlenberg left as producer leaving only Marcus Wilson and Denise Paul. Realm of The Daleks By Robert Shearman August 4th The story would see a system of planets which has been taken over by the Daleks, we would’ve seen the Doctor being really bitter towards the Daleks as he learns they’ve a deal with the Valeyard and he is determined more than ever to stop them.   This season would not see any notable changes, apart from the fact Sanne Wohlenberg would step in as a producer. The Trinity Test By Robert Shearman August 6th This would’ve been a pure historical and would focus on the Trinity Test which was the first detonation of a nuclear weapon and the real world character of J. Robert Oppenheimer would appear in this episode, the story would see the trio land in the Testing ground and are soon arrested by US army officers and are taken to the Los Alamos Laboratory and discover what the US are working on and the rest of the story would see the trio getting back to the TARDIs before it’s too late. Season 47 - 2010

  After the immense scale of success the RTD and Tennant years had brought, Doctor Who was seen as a must watch on TV. Part Two of ‘One Last Life’, David Tennant’s swan song, achieved viewing figures of 12.27 million viewers with an appreciation index of 91. 2009 was Doctor Who’s golden year with Season 46 being a very popular season (basically what Series Four in real life is like) and the new production team knew they had to follow up that success. This would be the debut season for the 13th Doctor Toby Jones, this Doctor would’ve been an exuberant and adventurous figure, with a cheerful and witty sense of humour. This season would also be the debut season for Hannah Smith and Mike Whelan, a couple from 2010, played by Annabel Scholey and Martin Compston. This would also be the debut season for the new showrunner Robert Shearman who’d written The Holy Terror, the Chimes of Midnight and Jubilee.
